Sweet, because they are babies……..but really not something I like to see. In just a few short months, the kitten will become a pretty ferocious predator of this squirrel. I’m rehabilitator who has seen squirrels ripped to pieces, and given almost intractible infections, by cats.
Yes it is an adorable image but please beware: This is not something you really want to encourage, for the sake of domestic pets, and for the sake of wildlife.
If you love them both – admire them….apart.
way to be a cute killer
I once admired a squirrel on campus at Purdue until a hawk swooped down and ate it. I agree with not putting rodents and cats together. My sister lost a hamster that way once. Instincts will overcome even the most well-behaved cat.
The only good time to put rodents and cats together is to teach them to kill quickly and leave it alone. Reward them for leaving the dead body intact, last thing you need is a vermin desease in the kitty.
For that matter, don’t put rodents and large dogs together either. I lost a guinea pig that way.
Way to be anti-squee guys. We know they’re mortal enemies, but for the love of god, can’t we just look at something cute with out the smothering weight of reality?
I wasn’t saying it wasn’t cute; it is adorable. I was just responding to the first guy’s post with my own observation. I cheered on that hawk eating the squirrel. I missed the hamster, but it taught my sister a lesson.

Seriously, folks. It’s a picture. They’re not advising keeping squirrels and cats in the same house. Indeed, they’re not even advising having squirrels as pets at all. So relax and let the cute be cute. Most of us come here to have our spirits lifted, not weighed down.

Look, dude, I’m not denying this is a cute picture. It’s REALLY cute. Maybe my continuation of the comment was out of line here, but I’m just trying to hand out good advice where it seems appropriate.
